  • 1 cup table salt
  • 1 cup warm water
  • Mixing bowl
  • Wooden spoon or hands
  • Rolling pin or wine bottle
  • Parchment paper

  • Ribbon or string

Instructions

  1. Mix flour and salt in a large bowl.
  2. Gradually add warm water, stirring until dough forms.
  3. Knead dough for 5–7 minutes until smooth. Adjust with flour or water as needed.
  4. Roll dough on parchment paper to 1/2 inch thickness.
  5. Press child’s hand firmly into the dough to create a clear imprint.
  6. Use a straw to make a hole if planning to hang as an ornament.
  7. Transfer parchment to baking sheet and bake at 200°F (93°C) for 2–3 hours, flipping halfway.
  8. Let handprints cool completely before decorating.
  9. Paint with acrylics, adding child’s name and date if desired.
  10. Seal with Mod Podge or clear acrylic spray, coating all sides.
  11. Thread ribbon or string through the hole if hanging.
  12. Display, gift, or frame as a keepsake.
